All good intentions of blogging about recent events seem to have gone completely out of the window in favour of trying to keep my sanity.
I spent two weeks on a client site out in Qatar at the end of October which was a fantastic experience, although it was marred but the complete incompetence of British Airways.
They’d overbooked my domestic flight to Heathrow, which meant I didn’t make it onto the plane (despite having a connecting flight) but somehow my luggage did.
It then took 5 days for them to get their act together and reunited me with my much missed suitcase!
After I returned home I was able to enjoy a much needed week off where I spent most of the time underwater, exploring the wrecks of the Red Sea again.
Since then it’s been a busy couple of weeks preparing for UKOUG. This year I’m giving 3 presentations, so there has been a lot of preparation to do!
My first presentation is at 11:15 on Monday morning, I’m delivering the ‘How to Plan Your Conference' session which is aimed at conference first timers.
I’ll do a bit of talking about the Conference itself and how to make the most out of the 4 days.
We’ll also be helping with agenda planning so come along if this is your first time at conference, or if you want to hear from myself and other UKOUG volunteers on how to maximise your time.
My second presentation is straight after this one, I’m co-presenting with my colleague Mick Bull on ‘Under the Covers of BIEE’. We’ll be doing a live demo on the day, so fingers crossed the technology behaves!
My final presentation is at 9:55 on Wednesday. This will be in the Vendor Demonstration area and I’ll be showing how to build professional documents using BI Publisher.
In between these times I’ll be on the SolStonePlus stand. It’s our 25th Anniversary this year, so we’ve gone all out with a new look and some great giveaways in our prize draw.
Come along to the stand and enjoy a complimentary glass of fizz while watching our team of Consultants giving demos on all things BI related!
Of course there’s also the usual social activities to look forward too, catching up with friends and attending the annual Blogger’s dinner.
I’m particularly looking forward to catching up with Borkur Steingrimsson and Benni Sigursteinsson who I worked with out in Qatar, if only to prove that I can go 4 days without wearing the same clothes the entire time!
